Meet Avie: The AI Engine Built for Workforce Intelligence

In the modern digital workspace, "AI" often just means a chatbot. But for enterprise applications, a chatbot isn't enough—you need an agent that understands your business context, security rules, and specific workflows.

We have analysed the "Avie" architecture to breakdown the suite of features that transforms it from a simple conversation window into a fully integrated productivity engine.

1. Dual-Brain Cognitive Modes

One of Avie's standout features is its ability to switch cognitive gears based on the complexity of the task.

  • Fast Mode (Default): Utilises the gemini-flash model for rapid, conversational responses. Best for general queries, drafting text, and quick summaries.

  • Thinking Mode: A user-selectable toggle that engages the gemini-thinking model. This activates a "Chain of Thought" process , allowing Avie to reason through complex calculations or logic puzzles before delivering a final answer.

2. The "Image Studio"

Avie isn't limited to text. It features a dedicated Image Generation engine powered by gemini-image.

  • Dynamic Resolution: Users can request "High Res" or "4K" images, and the system automatically overrides default compression settings to deliver 1K resolution assets.

  • Stateless Operation: When generating images, Avie creates a "fresh" session that ignores previous chat history, ensuring the prompt is interpreted exactly as written without hallucinated context.

3. Financial Intelligence: The OCR Agent

Perhaps the most powerful business tool is the Invoice-to-PO workflow. Avie acts as a financial auditor rather than just a reader.

  • Intelligent Extraction: It parses PDFs or images to extract vendor details, line items, and tax rates.

  • Reverse Charge Detection: It automatically detects CIS "Reverse Charge" items and applies the correct 20% or 5% tax codes.

  • Supplier Matching: It performs fuzzy logic matching against your database to identify vendors (e.g., matching "Nuco Ltd" to "Nuco Technologies Limited"). If a mismatch occurs, a "Fix Supplier" modal interrupts the process to prevent data corruption.

  • Calculation Engine: It ignores the document's total and recalculates the maths from the line items up. If the OCR total differs from the calculated total by more than £0.20, it flags a "Totals Mismatch" warning.

4. Engineer Report Refinement

For field service teams, Avie serves as a professional editor.

  • Rough-to-Ready: Engineers can input shorthand notes (e.g., "Arrived site, fixed lift, part replaced"), and Avie rewrites them into a formal Client Service Report.

  • Context Integration: It pulls real data like the Job Number, Client Order Number, and Visit Date directly from the database to contextualise the report.

  • One-Click Paste: The frontend includes a specific "Paste to Completion" button that injects the polished text directly into the system's report field.

5. Smart Emailer with Version Control

Avie includes a specialised Email Drafting Mode designed for professional correspondence.

  • Drafting & Refinement: It can generate new emails from bullet points or refine existing drafts for tone and clarity.

  • Undo/Redo History: Unlike standard chats, the Emailer mode features a unique navigation bar allowing users to step backward and forward through different versions of the draft (Undo / Redo), ensuring no creative iteration is lost.

6. Business Intelligence (BI) Snapshots

When viewing a supplier or client record, Avie transforms into a BI analyst.

  • Financial Summaries: It queries the SQL database to build a JSON profile of the company, calculating "Sales vs Purchases" and determining a "Net Position" (Profit/Loss) for that specific entity.

  • Privacy-Aware: This financial data is strictly permission-gated; only users with Administrator or Power User access can generate these financial snapshots.

7. Enterprise Grounding

Avie doesn't just guess; it anchors its knowledge in reality.

  • Google Search: For general queries, Avie can perform live Google Searches to retrieve up-to-date information, citing its sources with clickable footnotes.

  • Vertex AI Data Store: For specific CRM support queries, it connects to a private Google Cloud Data Store, allowing it to answer technical support questions based on your internal documentation.

8. Seamless UX & History Management

The interface is designed for persistence and usability.

  • Persistent Chat History: Chats are saved with a unique ID. Users can pin important conversations, rename chat titles, or delete old threads via a custom context menu.

  • Mobile Optimised: A responsive design ensures the chat interface adapts to mobile screens, with a slide-out history drawer for easy navigation.

  • Standalone Mode: Avie can be launched in a dedicated popup window that syncs data with the parent window, allowing users to work on dual screens without losing context.
